Blood Drive

The City of Carthage Wellness Committee celebrated a successful blood drive on October 1 at Memorial Hall, meeting its donation goal just in time thanks to the generosity of City employees, community members, and one last-minute donor family.

Hosted in partnership with the Community Blood Center of the Ozarks, the blood drive is one of two annual drives organized by the Wellness Committee to help support the region's ongoing need for lifesaving blood donations.

As the day neared its end, the drive was still working toward its goal when City of Carthage Court Clerk Nicole and her husband, Peter, arrived to donate. Their donations helped push the event across the finish line, allowing organizers to meet their target just in time. Peter, an enthusiastic supporter of blood donation, was proud to be part of the effort to help save lives.

The City of Carthage Wellness Committee is dedicated to supporting the health and well-being of City employees. Chaired by HR Director Michael Miller, the committee includes representatives from every City department working alongside partners at Gallagher (dba Biemdiek Insurance).

The committee's mission is to promote a culture of wellness by providing programs, resources, and opportunities that support all aspects of employee well-being, including physical wellness, mental and emotional wellness, financial wellness, preventive health and education, and healthy lifestyle choices.

Throughout the year, the Wellness Committee organizes health screenings, educational programs, wellness challenges, blood drives, and other initiatives designed to help employees live healthier, happier, and more balanced lives.

By investing in employee wellness, the committee continues to strengthen not only the City workforce but also the broader Carthage community. The success of the October 1 blood drive is a reminder that small acts of generosity can make a big difference, and that together, City employees and community members can help save lives.

The Wellness Committee extends its sincere thanks to all donors, volunteers, and the Community Blood Center of the Ozarks for making this event a success.
