In a heartfelt presentation during the November 13th Council Meeting, Regina Wells honored City of Carthage Mayor Bren Flanigan with a Quilt of Valor in recognition of his more than 32 years of distinguished service to our nation. Flanigan served as both an enlisted soldier and a commissioned officer, ultimately retiring as a Colonel in the United States Army Infantry. A proud Carthage High School alumnus and graduate of the United States Military Academy at West Point, Flanigan’s service reflects a lifetime of dedication, leadership, and unwavering commitment to country.

During the ceremony, Wells emphasized the importance of acknowledging the sacrifices made not only by those who serve, but also by their families. In that spirit, she presented a second quilt to the Mayor’s wife, Betsy Flanigan, recognizing her steadfast support throughout his decades of military service.

The presentation offered a meaningful moment of gratitude from the community, highlighting the deep respect Carthage holds for its veterans and their families. Mayor Flanigan expressed sincere appreciation for the honor and reflected on the significance of receiving such a personal and heartfelt tribute.
